Purpose
Many children in Cambodia, especially those in remote and rural areas, struggle to attend school due to the lack of affordable and reliable transportation. Some walk several kilometers daily, facing exhaustion, safety risks, and reduced study time.Â
Scope:
Distributing bicycles to primary and lower secondary students from rural and low-income backgrounds.
Partnering with local schools and community leaders to identify deserving students who demonstrate a commitment to education.
Conducting follow-ups to ensure the bicycles are being used for educational purposes.
Details:
Each student receives a brand-new bicycle, along with safety gear and basic maintenance training.
Priority is given to students living over 2 km from school.
The project runs year-round with a strong focus before the start of the academic year.
Impact:
Reduces absenteeism and dropout rates.
Improves academic performance by saving travel time and reducing fatigue.
Promotes equality by supporting students who otherwise face significant educational disadvantages.
Budget:
$100 per bicycle including helmet and study materials.
Target: 200 bicycles for 2026.
